Loyola attackman Patrick Spencer faced
perhaps the toughest challenge of his young career on Saturday as he was
primarily defended by Navy All-American defenseman Chris Fennell.
Fennell, the Patriot League Defensive Player
of the Year in 2015, locked down Spencer fairly well in the first half. The
freshman phenom from Boys' Latin was unsuccessful trying to dodge and committed
three turnovers.
However, Spencer maintained his poise and
became more of a factor in the third quarter, scoring a goal and dishing off
two assists to lead a 5-0 run that tied the score at 7-7. The Davidsonville
resident took advantage of a switch to score his first goal, beating Navy
sophomore defenseman Hiram Carter on the play.
Loyola committed 13
turnovers in the game and five of them were unforced. Close defenseman Jules
Godino led Navy with four caused turnovers while Carter was credited with two.To read more about the game, go to: http://www.capitalgazette.com/sports/navy_sports/ph-ac-cs-loyola-navy-notes-32016-20160319-story.html
