UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women’s lacrosse freshman standout Madison Carter(Davidsonville, Md.) earned four weekly honors from national and conference entities on Tuesday.
Carter was named Inside Lacrosse’s StringKing National Player and Rookie of the Week. Additionally, Carter named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week for her terrific week in a pair of road wins over James Madison and Vanderbilt.
Carter bagged 10 goals in a productive week that included a six-goal game in an 18-17 overtime win at James Madison and a four-goal showing in a 15-11 victory at Vanderbilt. The six-goal showing was a career-best for Carter and is the most scored in a single game by a Big Ten player.
Using precise shooting, Carter connected on 83.3 percent of her attempts, scoring all 10 goals on only 12 shots. She picks up her second offensive player and freshman of the week honor.
Carter and the Nittany Lions now turn their attention to a crucial mid-week battle with fellow top 10 team, No. 7 Princeton, on Wednesday at 3 p.m. That game will be played at Penn State Lacrosse Field.
