Annapolis police are warning residents to be vigilant when using
ATM machines in the Annapolis area due
to reports of credit card and debit card fraud in the past few days.
The department has received
more than nine reports since the end of last week from people who saw
unauthorized withdrawals from their checking accounts and charges on their
credit cards. The fraud may have started with skimming
devices placed on ATMs like those found in grocery stores, banks, gas stations, etc. that capture card and PIN
information. If the card reader looks
suspicious, report it.
