The Annearrundell County Free School Museum, 1298 Lavall Drive, Davidsonville, i is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and open to visitors from 1 to 4 p.m. on the second Saturday and the second Sunday in April, May, June, July, and August or by appointment. Admission is free and children are welcome.
Retired educators and school personnel from Anne Arundel County are available during the open houses to explain the original construction and expansion of the school. The retirees will also explain how schooling took place over 275 years ago when there was only one room and no electricity. There are displays of period school desks, early textbooks, slates, and other memorabilia associated with schooling in the 1700s and 1800s.
