Liam Kelly Part of Championship

Senior Liam Kelly (Davidsonville)  enjoyed a productive career at Yale and was a member of three Ivy League championship clubs, but he also experienced some disappointment as the Yale Bulldogs were beaten in the first round of the NCAA Tournament his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons.
This year, third-seeded Yale exorcised those playoff demons by making a magical run to the national title, beating No. 4 Duke 13-11 in Monday’s championship game.
It was somewhat bittersweet for Kelly, who watched the Final Four from the stands at Gillette Stadium.  Kelly missed his entire senior season after undergoing foot surgery in January. He remained an important part of the team as a senior leader, attending every practice and game while serving as a student coach.

Tilden Farm Nursery Reopens

From the Capital-Gazette:

For over 200 years, Tilden Farm has been part of the agricultural life of south county. It started as a working farm before transitioning into a nursery.
It was shuttered for about a year until new owners took over recently. The nursery reopened under new management and with a slight name change from Tilden Lawn Nursery to Tilden Farm Nursery. The focus is now balanced between retail and wholesale plants and landscaping materials.
The nursery business was started in 1978, growing trees in their fields and expanding as the business grew with greenhouses and more materials for sale. In 2016, the owners retired and sold the property, which sat unused.
The new owners reopened in September 2017, just in time for the end of the growing season. This spring the nursery’s plans are taking root and it is growing, adding more plants and materials.

Loyola Advances In NCAA Tourney

Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse had to sit through a two-hour, 14-minute storm delay before opening faceoff on Saturday night, but the Greyhounds built a 4-2 lead after the first quarter that they extended to a 10-5 halftime head before downing the University of Virginia, 14-12, in the NCAA Championships First Round at Ridley Athletic Complex.
With the win, Loyola advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second time in three years. The Greyhounds will face Yale University on Saturday, May 12, at Hofstra University’s James M. Shuart Stadium. The game time will be announced Sunday.
Pat Spencer (Davidsonville) finished the contest with two goals and three assists for a game-high five points. In the process, he broke two Loyola single-season records.
He became the first player in school history to score 90 or more points in a season, eclipsing the record of 89 set in 1981 by Gary Hanley that he tied in 2016. Spencer also broke his own single-season assist record of 55 set last season. He now has 33 goals and 58 assists for 91 points in 2018.

AA Co Meeting Re: Solar Farms

The Anne Arundel County Department of Planning and Zoning has rescheduled a public meeting to discuss dispersed energy uses in the County, especially Solar Farms, to May 23rd from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

At the urging of environmental advocates and the newly formed Agriculture, Agritourism, and Farming Commission, County Executive Steve Schuh and the Anne Arundel County Office of Planning and Zoning announced in December an immediate eight-month moratorium on the issuance of any approved dispersed energy operations, citing concerns regarding the impact of industrial solar energy operations, also called "solar parks," in rural areas of the County.
