Howard Fleck Passes Away


      Howard  L. G. Fleck  passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015 after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's disease.
      He is survived by his wife of 35 years, June Fleck. Also surviving are his daughter, Kathleen Fleck Jimenez, four grandchildren and a great grandson, step-children Susan Shearer Young (Douglas) and three grandchildren, Steven Shearer (Sandra) and two grandchildren and Michael Shearer (Julie) and two grandchildren.
      Howard was a graduate of George Washington University and Penn State University's Executive Management Program. He retired in 1988 from the position of Executive Director of the Navy's AEGIS Shipbuilding Program. He was a charter member of the Senior Executive Service. He continued to do consulting work for the Navy and pursue his many other interests which included a passion for cooking, woodworking, gardening, music, photography and world travel. Prior to attending George Washington University he served from 1952 - 1956 in the U.S. Air Force. He was the Vice Commander of Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-1 and a member of the Annapolis Woodworkers Guild until his illness prevented his participation. He served as the first president of the Lake of the Pines Community Association when he moved his family to Davidsonville in 1980.
      A memorial service will be held at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Saturday, July 11th at 4 PM.
