Davidsonville-based South Maryland Little League used three pitchers to
limit Arbutus Little League to one hit, as host South Maryland prevailed in the
first round of the Maryland District 4 All-Star tournament, 11-1, at the
Bottner Road field.
Jack Donovan got the win and
doubled and singled, scoring two runs. Danny O'Hagan scored twice, and Leonard
Meade was 3 for 3, also scoring twice.
South Maryland plays Sunday at
noon against Laurel Little League, which defeated South Baltimore Little League,
15-2.
The winner of this
double-elimination tournament for 11 and 12 year olds goes on to the state
tournament in Easton, starting July 25, ultimately leading to the Little League
World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
This is the 16th year for Little
League baseball in Davidsonville, which sponsors play for children ages 4-16 in
the areas of Davidsonville, Edgewater, Riva, Annapolis and Broadneck.
