Wildlife Center Improving Water Quality

Beards Creek has had high bacteria counts for years due to run-off from the Davidsonville Wildlife Center.  Recent work of adding ponds there is changing this.
On May 30, the South River Federation dedicated its new Beards Creek headwaters wetland restoration project at the Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary, 3156 Beards Point Road.
The project was funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, Constellation Energy and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, designed by Underwood & Associates and constructed by Brightwater. Arlington Echo, Sylva Native Nursery, Underwood & Associates and Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. made plant contributions.
