Stephen "Steve" Edward Angell, Sr., 69, of Milton, DE and formerly of Edgewater and Davidsonville, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2018, after a lengthy fight with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Riverdale, MD to the late Jesse Newton and Mary Kibler Angell, Steve moved with his family to Woodland Beach as a teen and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1967. He was a volunteer fireman with the Woodland Beach V.F.D. in the 1960's and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Steve was President of abc Security Corporation in Edgewater, MD for 24 years and served as Governor and Vice President of Corvette Annapolis in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was a life-long hunter and fisherman, a classic car enthusiast and an expert woodworker. He also enjoyed restoring old items, such as jukeboxes, gas pumps, and soda machines and loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Angell. He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years,
Joyce Marcellus Angell; his daughter, Shannon (Tom) Shepherd of Sykesville, MD; his son, Stephen (Christina) Angell, Jr. of Bozeman, MT; three grandchildren, Brett and Joy Shepherd and Oliver Angell; his brother, Kenneth (Donna) Angell of Seaford, DE and his twin sister, Sharon (Raymond) Higgs of Edgewater, MD and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to celebrate Steve's life from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, April 19 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD followed by interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reel Recovery (ReelRecovery.org) or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (cbf.org).
