The Spay Spa & Neuter Nook in Davidsonville wants to spay
and neuter as many cats and dogs as possible to prevent unwanted and homeless
kittens and puppies this spring.
During
April, the Spay Spa & Neuter Nook is offering dog neuters (based on weight)
starting at $75, and dog spays (based on weight) starting at $85; cat neuters
are $40 and cat spays are $55.
As always,
feral and community cats will be spayed/neutered, ear tipped and given a rabies
vaccination for $40.
Spaying or
neutering eliminates many behavioral problems in females displayed during a
heat cycle, such as yawling and spraying, and possible infections of the
reproductive tract. In males, neutering often reduces the likelihood of
territorial aggression and marking. Spayed cats and dogs have a 40 percent to
60 percent lower risk of mammary cancer, which is the 3rd most common cancer in
pets.
