Kellie Thompson Shiley Remembered

The Kellie Thompson Shiley 5K and Family Fun Run, is being  held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept 23, at  the  Chesapeake Exploration Center’s Cross Island Trail on Kent Island. More than 400 runners have signed up for the event, which will benefit the fund established to help support the Shiley children.

Former Davidsonville Gator Kellie  was a three-time All-American at  North Carolina, earning second team honors as both a junior and senior. In 2002, she became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 222 career points and 169 goals, marks that stood for a decade.   She  still holds the school record for single-season goals (62 in 2002) and  set an NCAA tournament record with eight goals in a first-round victory over UMBC.
