Edmonds Charged with Robbery, Assault

From the Capital-Gazette:

Annapolis police said they arrested a Davidsonville man in the assault and robbery of a bicyclist Sunday evening.

Jason Edmonds, 24, of Governor Bridge Road, was charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft of less than $100, according to online court records.

Police said a 42-year-old man was riding his bike in the 1600 block of Forest Drive at 6:10 p.m. when Edmonds grabbed the bicycle, forcing it to stop. Edmonds then punched the man in the face and took cash from his pockets,  police said.  The bicyclist yelled for help, attracting passers-by and prompting Edmonds to run away.

Police said Edmonds was positively identified by witnesses after he was picked up by officers a short time later.
He is being held at Jennifer Road Detention Center. In addition to a $250,000 bond on assault, robbery and theft charges, he also is being held without bond on a warrant for violation of probation.
Edmonds received two years probation before judgment in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in July after pleading guilty to driving under the influence, according to online court records.

Edmonds also is scheduled to appear in county District Court in December on charges of auto theft, theft and possession of marijuana, court records show.
