Loyola University's Pat Spencer had three goals and six assists on Saturday, setting a NCAA career record in the process, as he led a Greyhounds' 7-0 run that put them in front for a 15-13 victory over visiting Syracuse University in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Championships at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Spencer's sixth and final assist of the game, coming on a P.J. brown goal with 11:02 left in regulation to tie the game at 12-12, pushed his career total to 226, breaking the NCAA record of 225 set from 2012-2015 by the University at Albany's Lyle Thompson.
During the first half, Spencer moved past another former Albany player, Connor Fields (2015-18), for sole possession of second-place in career points. Spencer now has 369 points, passing Fields who had 364, and is behind only Thompson's 400.
