Edward P. "Ed" Lakitsky, 88, a 40-year resident of Davidsonville, MD and previously of Brookhaven, PA, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on May 10, 1928 in Freeland, PA, Ed served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He graduated from MMI Preparatory School in Freeland and Penn State's Forestry School before receiving his Master's Degree from Drexel University. Ed began his career at General Electric, then transferred to Westinghouse and later to the U.S. Department of the Navy where completed a 33-year career as a Naval Architect for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
Ed was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Legion, Toastmasters International, NAVSEA's Fishing Club and the Ruritan Club in Davidsonville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, auto refurbishing and gardening.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Lakitsky, one son, Edward Lakitsky of Davidsonville and one daughter, Andrea Lakitsky of Edgewater, two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to celebrate Ed's life with his family on Tuesday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until a Memorial Mass is offered at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Inurnment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
