Anne Arundel County Police report, on April 1, 2016 at approximately 6:13 am, officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on Central Avenue East near Loch Haven Rd in Edgewater. Witnesses reported finding an unresponsive victim in the ditch along eastbound Central Avenue just prior to Loch Haven Road. He was declared dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel and was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for autopsy. The preliminary cause of the crash is unknown but may be pedestrian error.
The vehicle that struck the victim did not remain on scene and there were no witnesses to the crash. It is unknown what specific damage it sustained but should have damage to the front passenger side of the hood, windshield, quarter panel and/or door. It’s likely the crash occurred between 1:00- 5:00 am.
The victim was identified as David Allen Decheubel Jr, age 19 of Edgewater.
