House & Garden Pilgrimage Sat.

The Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage in southern Anne Arundel County, sponsored by the Captain Avery Museum in Shady Side, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
This day of 2015 Pilgrimage focuses on south Anne Arundel County, the last remaining area of large farms in the county. This tour is designed to provide views of many architectural styles, from the 16th to early 20th centuries.
Eight of the eleven historic sites on the tour are private homes, rarely open to the public. The sites include Captain Avery Museum, Shady Side; Norman's Retreat, West River; Dodon Winery, Davidsonville; Oakwood, Harwood; Christ Church, Owensville; Burrages End and St. James' Parish in Lothian; Marshes Seat, Prout Tenant and Fairhaven Landing in Tracys Landing; and Holly Hill, Friendship.
Cost of the tour is $35 on day of the event or $30 for advance tickets. Funds received from the tour will be used to address a number of museum enhancements to bring the Captain Avery Museum into the 21st century.
