Stewart Reid Passes Away

Stewart Eugene (Gene/Stu) Reid II of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2021.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, Davidsonville MD on May 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
Gene was born to Stu and Betty Reid on December 20, 1945 at Patuxent Naval Air Station.  He graduated from Suitland High School, where he was an outstanding varsity soccer player.  He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Alldredge, on July 2, 1966.  He was drafted and served in the Army from 1966 to 1968.  After serving in the Army, he received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.  For over 40 years, he worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) and held a variety of positions within the Installations and Logistics organization.  Although he received NSA's highest civilian award, he was most proud of the Red Carnation award, recognizing him for "touching the lives of those around him".   Gene was very funny and witty. He was most know for the jokes and stories he told, as he always wanted to just make people laugh. He also had a big heart and was generous in helping people in need.  He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, and he was known in Woodland Beach for driving around in his custom painted Redskins car.  His love for sports was shown through him coaching his sons for 13 years in t-Ball and soccer for the Mayo Mustangs.   In his retirement years, Gene and Rebecca loved to travel.  They went on many wonderful trips including the Caribbean, Europe, and Hawaii.  He loved God and singing hymns of praise.  He also loved to paint, especially water colors.  His beautiful artwork can be seen at the homes of those he loved.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dale Reid and Jan Kessel. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rebecca; his children Tammy Hardesty (Rob), Jeremy Reid (Carrie), Jamie Reid, and Stewart Reid (Michaela); grandchildren, Robbie, Rebecca, Ava, Caroline, Nate, and Emily.  He was adored by his sister-in-laws Kathy, Jane, Jean, and their families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org).
