Robert Edward "Bob" Cunningham, 93, a 63-year resident of Riva, MD, passed away on May 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by those he loved.
Born on November 9, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, PA to the late Clifford and Eva Kiel Cunningham, Bob served in the U.S Navy for 3 years during World War II followed by 6 years of service in the U.S. Army, fighting on the front line during the Korean War. He made his career as a lineman working for BGE.
Bob was a member of Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville, MD. He enjoyed boxing and reading but, most of all, Bob loved his family; he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Glaser, brother, John "Jack" Cunningham and sister, Dolores Beauch. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Vernellie Cunningham; four sons, John (Patty) of Edgewater, MD, Christopher also of Edgewater, Robert "Bobby" of Bethany Beach, DE and Joe Sullivan of Lakeworth, FL; one daughter, Theresa "Terri" Lane of Bowie, MD; three brothers, Richard of Mt. Airy, MD, William of Bethesda, MD, and Clifford also of Bethesda; one sister, Peggy Margaret Ruth of Lake Wyley, SC; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life with his family on Wednesday, May 26 from 5 p.m. until his funeral service begins at 6 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
