BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced their weekly cross country honors on Tuesday afternoon, as redshirt freshman Pamela O'Brien was named SEC Women's Freshman of the Week for her performance in the women's 5k race at the FSU Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The nod serves as Pamela O'Brien's first SEC honor in her time with the blue and orange.
O'Brien, a native of Davidsonville, Md., notched her second career top-10 finish at the FSU Invitational, finishing in eighth place with a collegiate-best time of 18:00.4 in the women's 5k race. The performance served as O'Brien's third personal-best performance in a row, as she was one of four Gators to finish in the race's top 10 in guiding the Gators to a first-place team finish at the meet.
O'Brien's time of 18:00.4 serves as the eighth fastest 5k time among women's freshman SEC runners.
The Gators return to the course next Friday, November 1, for the 2019 SEC Championships, hosted in Lexington, Ky. at the University of Kentucky.
