Sharon Edwards Passes Away
Sharon Ann "Annie" Edwards, 68, of Edgewater, MD and previously of Hedgesville, WV, passed away on September 27, 2018.
Born on June 30, 1950 in Frostburg, MD to the late Francis and Sylvia Grimes, Sharon was a graduate of Holy Cross Academy in Kensington, MD. She married shortly after graduation and devoted herself to being a full-time wife, and a mother to her son Jimbo, who was born in October 1969. During the early 1980s, Sharon worked as a dispatcher at Montrose Towing. From 2004 to 2012, she worked again as a dispatcher at Edgewater Truck Center. Sharon was an avid Redskins fan, a fabulous cook, enjoyed crafting and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Rockville, MD. Her passion though was spending time, especially holidays, with her family. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was a cherished aunt and an "adopted" mother to many.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James T. Edwards, Sr. who died in 2006, her son, James T. Edwards, Jr. who died in March of this year, and one sister, Arlene Belt who died in July 2011. She is survived by another sister, Francie Tatum of Birmingham, AL, sister-in-law, Dorothy E. Wright of Hedgesville, WV, nine nieces and nephews and seventeen great-nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to celebrate Sharon's life with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 5 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 236, Edgewater, MD or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 91 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
