Kevin McKay Passes Away
Kevin Thomas McKay, 34, a 4 1/2 year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of LaPlata, MD, died at his home on Monday, July 30, 2018, of brain cancer following a two-year illness.
Born April 27, 1984, in Southern Maryland Hospital, he graduated from Maurie McDonough High School in 2002. In 2006, he graduated at the top of his class from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelors of Engineering degree. Kevin was employed as the vice president of R & R Mechanical, Inc. He was a member of South River Golf Club. Kevin (#KevinStrong) was the recipient of the top fundraiser in the Race For Hope - DC. He enjoyed golf, boating, watching UMD football, beer and crabs, Nationals baseball, Redskins football, Capitals hockey, traveling, playing poker, and pranking and making people laugh. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bradford McKay. Kevin is survived by his wife of eight years, Katie McKay; two children, Reese and Olivia McKay; a brother, Chadwick McKay of Valley Lee, MD; and his parents, Kerry (Foster) McKay, Tom McKay and Toni McKay. Friends are invited to celebrate Kevin's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, August 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Monday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to Maryland College Investment Plan, P.O. Box 17479, Baltimore, MD 21297 (make checks payable to Olivia and Reese McKay Education Fund).
