Quacks For Backpacks June 24

Rain last weekend postponed the Quacks for Backpacks Duck Races and Family Carnival for the second time. The new date is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24 at Homestead Gardens, 743 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville.

The Bountiful Backpacks program provides weekend food supplies for up to 150 needy elementary school children in south Anne Arundel County during the school year. The food program and duck race event are sponsored by the public, event sponsors and the Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County.

The family carnival at the event will include carnival games, face painting, a rubber duck decoration contest, music, magic, food and refreshments. Admission to the events is free.

Any family or individual may sponsor a duck or ducks in the races for $10 donation at www.southcountyrotary.org/quacksforbackpacks.php. Prizes will be awarded to the top ducks racing on a special water course built by Homestead Gardens. Business and donor sponsorships are still being sought to raise funds. All proceeds benefit the Bountiful Backpacks program.
