Linda Flury Passes Away
It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Flury announces her passing on June 8. Linda died peacefully at home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born on June 27, 1956 in Prince George's County, where she grew up. She and her husband Dan have made Davidsonville, MD their home for the last 31 years.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Daniel Thomas, a son Jeffrey Thomas (Kate), and a granddaughter she adored, Amelie of Laurel, MD. She is also survived by three of her siblings, Craig Flury (Elizabeth) of Arnold, MD, Michelle Robbins (Geoff) of Selbyville, DE, Patti Flury of Edgewater, MD as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved and admired her. Linda was predeceased by her father, Frank Flury, mother, Betty Flury and brother Steven Flury (Dianne).
Linda was passionate about creating and enhancing the natural beauty of her surroundings. She was a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a BA in Ornamental Horticulture. Linda started the Landscape Design Division at Homestead Gardens as well as founded and operated the landscape firm Designscapes for over 30 years helping others beautify their homes with environmentally friendly, extraordinary outdoor living spaces.
A service in her memory will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 11AM at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035. The service will be followed by a celebration of her life. A private funeral will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the National Arboretum, 3501 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002 www.fona.org.
