The Chesapeake Christian
Fellowship Church, 377 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville, is working with local
and national businesses to stave off the alarming rates of food insecurity
within the community. Daily Bread is an outreach program that offers 1,500 families
nutritious groceries to provide hunger relief and minister to those in need.
Since 2012, the church has
organized an annual food drive to provide families in a dozen Annapolis
communities with boxes of food, including nonperishable items, sturdy staples
such as rice and potatoes, and local produce, to give families a break from food
worries.
At the end of next week, hundreds
of CCFC members and other volunteers will gather at the CCFC Family Life Center
one evening to sort through all the purchased and donated food items, placing
them in various categories and making sure there is enough of each item to fill
each box. The next evening is filling and labeling the boxes and stacking them
according to which community they are destined.
