Roger Wayne "Buddy" Sears, of Davidsonville, MD, passed on May 3, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Elisa Gran Sears. Loving companion of Kathleen Porter. Devoted father of Patricia Sears Shoults, Debra Sears Wasem, and Sandra Sears Sparks. Grandfather of eight and Great-Grandfather of eight. Brother of Bernard Thomas Sears and Joyce Diane Zindorff.
Mr. Sears graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 1950 and started working in June of 1950 with McNew Plumbing. In September of 1950 he joined Bethlehem Steel Company during the initial work for the first span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. In January of 1951 he left to join the US Air Force. In the Air Force his specialized training led him to a career in Advanced radio and radar transmission where he held a secret clearance. Following his honorable discharge in 1955 he joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where he worked from 1955 until he retired in 1983. During his Korean War service, while stationed in the Philippines, he met his wife Elisa. They married and settled back in Annapolis where he enjoyed working on the family farm (the current site of the Annapolis Mall). His interests included bowling and watching the Orioles and Colts play. Above all was his love for his large family. Mr. Sears was a long-time volunteer at Anne Arundel Medical Center in the Joint and Spine Center. He was also a long-time member of the Davidsonville Ruritans where he remained active until its closure.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A. 12 Ridgely Avenue Annapolis, MD 21401 on Tuesday from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Hardesty Funeral Home with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anne Arundel Medical Center 2002 Medical Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21401 or the SPCA of Anne Arundel County 1815 Bay Ridge Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403.
