Anne Arundel County has a "substantial" level of coronavirus transmission as of Aug. 3, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were 60 new cases per 100,000 residents between July 27 and Aug. 2. There were 348 recorded cases in Anne Arundel County between July 27 and Aug. 2, which is 78 percent higher than the previous seven days. The new Delta strain is highly transferable and is the main reason for the increase.
The CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in public if they live in an area with "substantial" or "high" transmission levels. Those who aren't fully vaccinated are urged to wear masks in those settings, regardless of transmission level.
