Gerard "Jerry" John Erickson, a three and a half year resident of Davidsonville, MD and previously of Cape St. Claire, MD for 19 years, died at his home on Thursday, December 21, 2017, of natural causes. He was 80. Born April 11, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Gerard H. and Francis A. Erickson, Jerry graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School. He was employed as a master electrician, County electrical inspector, contractor, and a business owner. Jerry served in the USA Navy Reserve and was a longtime member of the Chesapeake Bay Power Boaters Association.
He was preceded in death by his wives, JoAnn Robertson Erickson of 16 years and Janet Grooms Erickson of 23 years. Jerry is survived by two children, John Erickson (Michelle) of Sunderland, MD and Sherri Erickson-Savercool (Paul) of Silver Spring, MD; and four grandchildren, Kyle and Kara Savercool and Jake and Julia Erickson.
Friends are invited to Gerard's life celebration on Saturday, January 27 from 9:00 a.m. until his funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland, MD at 2:00 p.m. Online guestbook available at
