From the Capital-Gazette:
Police said investigators have determined in a preliminary
investigation that high speed and reckless driving led to a fatal crash in
Davidsonville on Friday night.
Anne
Arundel County police on Monday released the identity of a man who died in the
single-vehicle crash.
John
David Fisher, 44, of Edgewater, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was
taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy, police
said.
Fisher,
who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the car, was wearing his seat
belt, police said.
Police
were dispatched at 10:38 p.m. to Beards Point Road near Beards Creek Drive.
The
Ford Mustang, driven by Michelle Lee Brookman, 43, of Edgewater, was traveling
south on Beards Point Road at a high speed, police said.
The driver failed to negotiate a curve in
the roadway and the car began to skid, left the road and struck a tree, police
said.
One
backseat passenger, a 20-year-old man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was
ejected from the Mustang, police said.
He
was flown to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for critical injuries,
police said.
A
30-year-old woman seated in the backseat of the car was taken to Shock Trauma
for critical injuries. She was wearing a seat belt, police said.
Brookman was taken by ambulance to Shock
Trauma for minor injuries, police said.
A
Shock Trauma spokesman said Monday afternoon that Brookman had been discharged
from the hospital, Dicey was listed as being in serious condition and Baerga
was in critical condition.
Investigators
believe drugs and alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
The
police department's traffic safety division is investigating. Any charges are
pending review of the State's Attorney's Office.
