Updated Info On Rt. 50 Fatal Crash

A 19-year-old Upper Marlboro man died Monday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Route 50 in Davidsonville, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
About 11:50 a.m. firefighters were called to a medical emergency near eastbound Route 50 and Rutland Road.
The first caller to 9-1-1 just said that an ambulance was needed and hung up. As units were responding, additional 9-1-1 callers reported that the emergency was an auto accident with a person trapped in the vehicle.
Firefighters found a vehicle had run off Route 50 into the woods. Witnesses said the vehicle cart-wheeled several times before coming to a stop overturned against a fence. Firefighters found the driver and lone occupant dead on the scene.
Maryland State Police say a Toyota Corolla driven by Gene Aaron Marshall was eastbound on Route 50. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted out of the travel portion of the roadway off the right shoulder.
The vehicle then went up a hill and struck several trees, which caused it to overturn and come to rest against a fence.
