Mary Smith Passes Away


      Mary Regina Mueller Smith, 85, of Centreville, MD, and previously Harwood, MD, passed away on April 17, 2016.
      Born on May 6, 1930 in Annapolis, MD to the late Mathias and Regina Mueller, Mary graduated from St. Michael's High School in Ridge, MD. She later attended the International Institute of Interior Design in Washington, DC. In 1950, Mary married the late Richard L. Smith, Jr., who died in 2006, and devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother.
      She and her husband lovingly restored and raised their family at "Mary's Mount" farm in Harwood. Before moving to Centreville where she was a parishioner of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Mary was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD where she was very active, especially on the design committee for the new church and as a founding member of the Lazarus Committee. Mary enjoyed needlework, doll-making, painting, interior decorating, cooking, gardening and entertaining.
      Mary is survived by two sons, Richard Smith III of Stevenson, MD and Dennis (Beth) Smith of Earleville, MD; three daughters, Elaine (Yves) Nollet of Schenectady, NY, Janet (Tom) O'Connor of Centreville and Gina (Buck) Towne of Centerville, OH; one brother, Gerry Mueller of Davidsonville; four sisters, Judy Raley and Helen (Harry) Clarke, both of St. Inigoes, MD, DeeDee Orwig of Great Mills, MD and Peggy (Rick) Adams of Marietta, GA; four grandsons, Jeremy and David Nollet, Brad Towne III, and Dennis Smith II; seven granddaughters, Katherine Nollet, Sara Hart, Anne Frank, Gussie Smith, and Emily, Livie and Chrissy Smith; and seven great-grandchildren. 

      A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Holy 
Family Catholic Church  , 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville until a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:00 p.m. in the main church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church cemetery in Owensville, MD An online guestbook is available at www.KalasFuneralHomes.com.
