Carter Gets Fifth Freshman Honor

Penn State women's lacrosse midfielder Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) was named the Epoch/Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week, while Madison Carter(Davidsonville, Md.) was recognized as Big Ten Freshman of the Week for a fifth time on Tuesday afternoon.
Carter put together another outstanding performance by scoring four goals and collecting a career-high nine draw controls in PSU's 17-13 victory over No. 12 Northwestern. Carter scooped nine of the team's 20 draw controls as the Nittany Lions won the possession battle, 20-11. Carter scored two goals each in the first and second halves for the Nittany Lions. She is second on the team in goals (38) and draws (50).
Carter garnered her fifth weekly rookie honor from the conference (Feb. 13, March 15, April 5, April 19) and third in the month of April.
The 11th-ranked Nittany Lions (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten) will vie for the Big Ten regular-season championship when it welcomes top-ranked Maryland on Thursday night. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. with a live national audience watching on Big Ten Network. Admission and parking are free for all.
