South River Lacrosse Team in State Semi-Final

South River High School boys lacrosse team is slated to play Wooten High School (West division) for the 4A/3A state championship semi-final game tonight, May 16, 2014. The game will be played at Northeast High School, starting at 8 p.m. (please watch for weather delays or game postponements).
The winner of that game will play either Dulaney High (South division champ) or Howard (North division). That semi-final is on Saturday.
The state championship games will be at UMBC on May 20-21.
The Seahawks were seeded number one going into the tournament. Here’s how the tournament played out:
  • First round: Bye
  • Second round: South River over Chesapeake, 14 to 3
  • Third round: South River over Arundel, 8-5
  • Fourth round: South River over Leonardtown, 16-0
The boys have had a strong season, going 12-2 in regular season play, running up huge leads in some of their county matches. Early in the season, they fell 6-7 to Arundel, but easily got past the Wildcats in the playoff round of divisionals.
