Bennettt Myers Passes Away
Bennett "Ben" Francis Myers, 84, a 19-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of Rogers Heights, died October 24 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born on July 7, 1929 in Scotland, MD, Ben served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with assignments in Japan and Korea. After the war, he joined the Steamfitters Local 602 and later became a construction project manager for the Marriott Corporation. Ben was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing. He was a founding member of the Little Buck Hunt Club in Cambridge.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Goins Myers, whom he married in 1953 and who died in 2003; and his son, Bart who died this past September. He is survived by two daughters, Benita Myers of Davidsonville and Linda Cheyne and her husband, Clayton of Edgewater; brother, Jack Myers of Marietta, GA; sister, Jane Schwartfager of North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Penny Myers of Leland, NC; four grandchildren, Patrick McKenna, Sam Cheyne, Dawn Poss and Makayla Lyons; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 29 at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
