Michael Joseph McDermott, 71, a 33-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of College Park, died on Friday, May 31 at his residence after a two-year battle with cancer.
Born on August 1, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late John E. and Lucy E. McDermott, Mike graduated from Northwestern High School and was a master electrician. He was a member of IBEW Union Local 26. He enjoyed taking care of his family, being outdoors, road trips, visiting the ocean, a good cup of coffee, seeing a beautiful sunrise and keeping things in good repair.
Mike is survived by his wife, Mary K. McDermott whom he married in 1968; a son, John McDermott of Edgewater; a daughter, Christina Tripp of Edgewater and two grandsons, Dustin and Shane Tripp both of Edgewater. Funeral services will be private.
