About Maryland 550 students, along with their parents and teachers, gathered at the UMBC campus on April 27 to compete in the Maryland History Day competition.
Cassie La Torre of Davidsonville and Alexis Ward of Edgewater received the Special Prize in Labor History for their junior group website project “The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.” They attend Central Middle School, and their teacher is Georgia Ladd, who received the Anne Arundel District History Day Teacher of the Year Award.
