Joan Placido and Bridget Blake have spent the past 12 years restoring a historic cemetery behind All Hallows Episcopal Church in Davidsonville. The women discovered this month that someone had scrubbed the names on over 150 headstones that date back to the 1800s. They suspect amateur genealogists who who used steel wool to take the patina of age off inscriptions so they would be easier to photograph.
