Stella M. Redmiles, 86, a 37-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of Cheverly, MD, passed away on September 28, 2017 at her home.
Born on July 28, 1931 in Washington, DC, to the late Joseph and Gladys Mudd, Stella was a graduate and the prom queen of Bladensburg High School's Class of 1948. She continued her studies at the University of Maryland where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in three years and ranked number two in her graduating class from the College of Business and Public Administration. Stella enjoyed a successful 40-year career at the Suburban Federal Savings Bank, rising to the level of Executive Vice President before retiring in 1995. Upon her retirement, Stella accepted an invitation to remain on the bank's Board of Directors, a position she held for several years. In her spare time, Stella liked to play golf, read, travel and relax at her vacation home in Stephens City, VA. Her passion though was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Redmiles and her sister, Marjorie Ryan. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Donald Redmiles; two sons, Joseph (Mary) Redmiles and Glenn (Irene) Redmiles, both of Davidsonville; two sisters, Barbara Maloney of Dayton, MD and Dorothy Gundling of Florida; four grandchildren, Matthew Redmiles of Ocean Pines, MD, Colleen (Jon) Isett of Davidsonville and Donald and Katie Redmiles, both of Annapolis, MD; and three great-granddaughters.
Friends are invited to celebrate Stella's life with her family from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, October 2 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where Stella's funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
