ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Madison Carter (Davidsonville, Md.) and senior Cat Rainone (Newtown Square, Pa.) earn Big Ten Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week accolades as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon, March 28.
Carter earns her second Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolade this season after receiving the same honor on February 21. This marks the fifth Offensive Player of the Week award so far this season for Penn State as senior Steph Lazo has earned this same distinction on a trio of occasions.
Carter paced the offense to a 2-0 week with eight goals and one assist for nine points. The sophomore scored a pair of goals while adding an assist during a 13-8 road victory against No. 5 Princeton before tying a career-high with six goals in a 16-10 win at Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
Carter’s 40 goals currently lead the entire Big Ten and tie for fifth in the nation while her 45 points are second in the Big Ten only behind Lazo’s 59 and rank tied for 12th in the nation. With 64 draw controls on the season, Carter also ties for the league lead and ranks fifth in the nation.
