The above building next to the Arundel fire station on MD 424 served as fire station until the new one was constructed in 1971. However, the new station lacks sufficient room for all the needs. The fire company has debated tearing the old building down and building a new one, or remodeling it so there is room for training and community needs. Remodeling it for $400,000 seems the way to go.
The company has raised $200,000 toward the remodel the building and they are seeking a matching $200,000 grant from the state for the project.
