The Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 West Central Ave., will host the 17th annual Southern Maryland Fairways of Faith golf tournament on April 29 at the Golf Club at South River. Church teams will compete for the “Carpenter’s Cup.”
The tournament supports the church’s youth service project ministry that responds to the housing needs of the economically and physically disadvantaged people, using a Christian perspective.
This year, the church will send more than 30 young people and adults to Beaufort County, N.C. In 2011, Hurricane Irene sat off the coast of North Carolina for nearly two days, pushing more and more water up the tributaries of Pamlico Sound and flooding many communities.
Last June, the church’s youth spent a week rebuilding the homes and lives of three families. This June, they will provide “hope” to additional families of Beaufort County by rebuilding more of their damaged homes.
