Ronald Brown Passes Away



      Ronald D. Brown, a 40-year resident of Davidsonville, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 7, 2024. He had a career spanning 45 years as a computer application specialist and operations manager in the banking industry, retiring in 2001. Locally, he was employed by the National Bank of Washington and Riggs National Bank. During his career, he worked internationally in the banking industry, spending several years in Malaysia and Hungary.       Ron was born in York, Pennsylvania, on October 11, 1933, to Herald F. Brown and Charlotte Brown (nee Knisley). He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, for eight years. He graduated from Red Lion High School in 1951. He was a member of the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. During this time, he developed expertise in electronics, which helped him transition to employment in the early days of the computer industry. He attended Drexel University with a concentration in electrical engineering.       Ron developed a passion for boating and enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay with trips along the Intracoastal Waterway and The Northern Loop. He was a man of many talents and an avid problem solver capable of managing projects involving his home, boat, or car. In his retirement, he assisted family and friends in renovating their homes.       Ron is survived by his wife, Helen Brown (nee Bukey); his children, Douglas Brown and Cindy Marlo Baird; stepdaughter Anne Ferguson; granddaughter Christine Hill; and sisters Connie Shuff and Faye Strickler. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter Katherine Ferguson and brother Gerald Brown.       Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ron’s life on Friday, October 11, Ron’s 91st birthday, at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, from 10:30 a.m., until his Memorial Service begins at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
