Spencer and UConn Still In NCAA Tourney
Cam Spencer has always been a shooter. At Loyola (MD), he shot 44 percent from three as a freshman. At Rutgers, he hit 43.4 percent of his threes and drilled a buzzer-beater to take down the No. 1 team in the country.
So when the Davidsonville, Maryland native transferred to UConn in the offseason, there was no doubt about what he would be asked to do. Spencer would need to take — and make — a lot of threes to keep the spacing of Dan Hurley’s juggernaut offense intact.
So far, Spencer has been an on-court revelation while also fitting in nicely within the culture of the UConn program.
Currently, Spencer is shooting 49.5 percent from the field, 44.6 percent from three, and 91.7 percent from the free throw line with three games left in the regular season. That puts Spencer in the running for the vaunted 50-40-90 club, a collection of the sport’s most elite sharpshooters. To qualify, players must average 50 percent or better from the floor, over 40 percent from three, and over 90 percent from the charity stripe.
Number 1 ranked UConn is in the last 16 teams in the 2024 NCAA tournament. The next few days will determine if they finish as National Champions.

Large Building Fire On Central Ave.
DAVIDSONVILLE, MD - Officials said a Davidsonville storage facility burned Saturday, causing several explosions and injuring one.
Crews said the injured victim, a business owner, was treated and
released on the scene for a minor wound.
The fire department is still investigating the cause, area of
origin and estimated dollar loss.
First responders said a passerby reported the blaze in the 400
block of Central Avenue around 7:55 p.m.
A neighbor called 911 minutes later to report that the
"whole building" was on fire and that loud "booms" were
heard, a press release said.
Firefighters also said explosions could be heard from inside.
A building occupant said the facility had a substantial fuel
load, including hydraulic fluid containment, the release stated.
First responders said they called for a second alarm, given the
building's size and the amount of fire.
A team of 98 said it used water brought to the scene to protect
the attached business and several exposed vehicles.
Crews said they simultaneously set up a sustainable water supply
to obtain the amount of water needed to control the main portion of the fire.
This area does not have fire hydrants.
It took about three hours to control the blaze, firefighters
