Barbara Prillaman Passes Away

    Barbara Allen Prillaman, 89 of Lusby, MD, formerly of Bryans Road, MD passed away on September 5, 2023 in Davidsonville, MD.
    She was born on April 22, 1934 in Emmett, WV to Elizabeth and Hubert Browning. She was the loving wife to William Gary Prillaman whom she married on December 31, 1963 in Hyattsville, MD and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2010.
    Barbara attended Man High School and was a loving mom who raised her children. She loved to go shopping in her spare time and moved to Lusby, MD in 1998 from Bryans Road, MD.
    Barbara is survived by her children, Brenda Foor of Stevensville, MD, Michael Sparks of Lusby, MD, Theresa Shipman (Bryan) of Lusby, MD, Lisa Johnson (Rick) of Culpeper, VA, and Lora Rodrigues (Wayne) of Livermore, CA; sister, Annalou Ross of Sevierville, TN; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; children, Deborah Briers and Sandra Yeager; siblings, James Browning, Juanita Baione, and Geneva Hayes.

Ricky Winchenback Passes Away

 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ricky R. Winchenbach (Davidsonville, Maryland), who passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 67.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 15th 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Lakemont Memorial Gardens (900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035).

Lydia Mueller Passes Away

 Lydia Mueller, age 89, of Davidsonville, Maryland passed away                              on Monday, September 4, 2023.

George Robey Sr. Passes Away


 George Robey Sr., 83, a thirty-eight-year resident of Davidsonville, MD, and formerly of Glenn Dale, MD died of cancer on Monday, September 5, at his home in Davidsonville.

George was born on May 26, 1940, in Washington, DC to the late George Edward Robey and Ada Robey. George was a star pitcher on the Bladensburg High School Baseball team, and upon graduation from Bladensburg High School in 1958 George “Pop” was drafted as a pitcher by the New York Yankees organization. He is a retired DC Firefighter and worked part-time to build a very successful paint business.

George lived for his family and was a devoted husband and father. He loved watching his grandkids play sports and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors.

George is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Martha Robey, he is survived by his children, Sharon Shackelford and her husband, Jeff of Crofton, MD; George “Andy” Robey, Jr. and his wife, Delia of Bowie, MD, and Donna Spencer and her husband, Bruce of Davidsonville, MD; his grandchildren, Nick (Kasey) and Doug (Sarah) Shackelford, Alaina (Robbie) Lewis, Megan (Ricky) Schruefer, Andrew Robey, Patrick, Cameron and William Spencer and his 4 great-grandchildren, Sloane, Lincoln, Franklin, and Abigail Shackelford.

Friends are invited to celebrate George’s life on Sunday, September 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11 at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at the Lakemont Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Davidsonville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of George Robey Sr. may be directed to support general cancer research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to Johns Hopkins University. Gifts may be mailed with a memo indicating that this gift is in memory of George Robey Sr. to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, P.O. Eugene Gilhooly Passes Away

Eugene E. "Gene" Gilhooly, who was part owner of Schoolyard Stable and was a regular at Maryland racetracks for many years, passed away Aug. 17 after a bout with pneumonia. He was 94.

Gilhooly and his wife, Inez, raised two daughters after moving to Annapolis. He was an elementary school principal for more than 30 years at schools in nearby Linthicum, Tyler Heights and Davidsonville. His students adored him and he kept in touch with many throughout his life. 

Schoolyard Stable over the years partnered with other people and entities, including Jim Leary and Sola Dei Gloria Stable (trainer Hugh McMahon), in racehorse ownership. McMahon trained for Schoolyard Stable in recent years, and Gilhooly was often at Laurel Park in to watch his horses compete. He also enjoyed handicapping races and playing 10-cent superfecta boxes.

Gilhooly is survived by his daughters, Brenda Gilhooly of Lakeland, Fla., and Nancy Purdy of Annapolis; his brother Ray; grandchildren Julie, Tim, Christopher and Cara; great-grandson Lincoln; his dear friend Marilyn Roberts; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife and his older brother, John.

Gilhooly, who regularly stopped by the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association offices to chat, will always be remembered as a vibrant, energetic and outgoing man who frequently referred to himself as "the happiest man on Earth." In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date through John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis.

Wilma Lanneau Passes Away

 


   Wilma Louise Lanneau, a 49-year resident of Davidsonville, MD, and previously of Annapolis, MD died on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at her home.     Known to family and friends as "Billie Lou" or "Doots", Wilma was born on July 27, 1937, in Epping Forest to the late William and Eleanor Wilson. She was a graduate of Annapolis High School and Strayer Business School and she worked for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company for 19 years and the State of Maryland for 20 years. Wilma was a member of Bay Area Community Church and enjoyed cooking, helping others, gardening, traveling, and hummingbirds.     She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Charles J. Lanneau, and her brother, William Porter Wilson of Morehead City, NC.     Friends are invited to celebrate Wilma’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, September 5 from 11 a.m. until her funeral service begins at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville.
