Peter Fohner Passes Away

On Monday, September 12, 2022, Peter (Pete) Denis Fohner passed away at his
home in Davidsonville, Maryland.

He was born May 11, 1944 in Reading,
Pennsylvania to the late Eugene and Catherine (Ward) Fohner.|
He was a 1962 graduate of DuVall High School. After graduating he served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 2 years and the U.S. Navy Reserves for 4 years. He spent his career working as a technician for IBM and then Eastman Kodak until he  retired. As he gradually eased into full retirement, his security clearance allowed him to act as an escort for uncleared technicians and contractors at NSA. Over the years he volunteered extensively in the community with the Elks Lodge and the American Legion, helping in the daily efforts to keep the books for their fund-raising efforts.

Pete was proud of his country and serving it and of his Irish heritage. He loved
history and music. He loved crossword puzzles and was confident filling in the
Sunday puzzle in ink. Pete was known for his witty sense of humor and his love of
all things nautical. He owned a sailboat for many years and his sailing journeys
with family and friends were a highlight of his life. He and his companion, Marie,
took many trips traveling to France, England, Ireland, across the Mediterranean,
and the Adriatic seas. They took the opportunity to enjoy stays in rentals on the
local economy in Venice, Rome and Paris.

Pete was preceded in death by his infant son Brian. He is survived by his

companion of 20 years, Marie; his two brothers, both of Berlin, MD Eugene
Fohner and Paul (Audrey) Fohner; his four children Michelle Freeman of
Centreville MD, Heather (Mark) Staubs of Martinsburg WV, Shannon (Matthew)
Cowher of Inwood, WV and Matthew (Lynsey) Fohner of Myersville MD; his 14
grandchildren Joshua, Ryan, Tyler, Brad, Ashton, Aubree, Tyler, Landon,
Addyson, Avrie, Abram, Logan, Raegan and Miriam; a great-grandson Braxton
and many beloved cousins and nephews.
