Stream Restoration In Graveley

King’s Branch feeds into Flat Creek, which flows into the South River. A year ago its stream bed was as much as 20 feet below the surrounding land, incised into the Earth by runoff from roads and residences in the area, Arundel Rivers Federation outreach coordinator Nancy Merrill said.

The federation hopes to reduce the amount of pollution coming from King’s Branch through a two-thirds of a mile long mile stream restoration, which will be complete this fall once 1,600 trees and 800 shrubs, among other species, are planted on the banks.

Vehicle Accident On Central Ave.

DAVIDSONVILLE, MD — Police say a driver flew into oncoming traffic Wednesday evening, eventually crashing into a mailbox, picket fence and two trees in Davidsonville. After a brief hospital stint for minor injuries, officers arrested the man on several gun charges.

Police say Chesapeake Beach man Cortez Lamont Reid wrecked in the area of Central Avenue and West Patuxent River Crossover around 5:30 p.m. A report indicates that Reid's black 2010 Ford Taurus was the only car involved in the accident.

Police claim they found a loaded .22-caliber revolver in the car and a spring-assisted switchblade on Reid. The 24-year-old man faces charges of one felony and four misdemeanors.

The felony accuses Reid of possessing a gun, despite having a previous felony charge. The misdemeanors allege that Reid illegally possessed a firearm, that it was on his person, that it was loaded and that he illegally had ammunition for that weapon.

Cortez is being held without bail. His will next appear in court on Oct. 14 for a preliminary hearing. His case does not yet list a trial
