Alvin Sutphin Sr Passes Away


    Alvin Sutphin, Sr., "Pop" a resident of Davidsonville, MD for more than sixty years, died on Thursday, July 26 in Wilmington, NC due to cancer. 
   Born on August 25, 1937 in Pulaski, VA to the late Joseph Cleve and Matilda Kemp Sutphin, Alvin owned and operated Statewide Septic and Backhoe, Inc. of Davidsonville, MD for many years. He was a member of Annapolis Moose Lodge 296. Alvin enjoyed playing bluegrass music on his banjo, his morning coffee, socializing at Wawa, being outdoors and he loved spending time with wife and his children and grandchildren. 
    He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mae Sutphin; his children, Alvin Sutphin, Jr., Debbie (Donnie) Thomas and Ann (Salvador) Aguilar all of Davidsonville, MD; his grandchildren, Trey, Ethan and Abby Sutphin, Angela Felsen, Tiffany Bryant and Heather Lonergan and his great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Lonergan, Kaelyn Mullins, Blake Bryant, Dylan Costallo and Paul Bryant, III. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Bryant, Jr.
    Friends are invited to celebrate Alvin's life on Thursday, August 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD where his funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
