Jason Edmonds Charged With SUV Theft
A Davidsonville man was arrested Tuesday after Annapolis Police reportedly spotting him driving a stolen car. About 11:45 p.m. Annapolis Police officers were in the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue when they saw the Ford Escape pull into a parking spot.
The driver of the stolen SUV was identified as Jason Edmonds, 28, of Davidsonville. Edmonds had the keys to the vehicle in his possession and there were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle, authorities say.
Police arrested Edmonds and charged him with motor vehicle theft, theft, and rogue and vagabond. Edmonds was released by the District Court Commissioner.

Joanna Sypkens Passes Away
Joanna Sypkens (Clark), 82, born in Crescent City, California on May 24, 1935, passed away on June 1, 2017 due to complications with pneumonia.
She was a resident of Davidsonville for almost 40 years and taught elementary school in PG County for many years.
She was the daughter of the late George and Velma Clark, she was pre-deceased in death by her husband Bruce Sypkens and her brother George Clark. She is survived by her daughters Cathi Kwiatkowski and Cari Frazier, her grandchildren Joseph Krantz, Joshua Allison, Ryan Allison, Adam Krantz, Daughter-in-law Jayme Allison, step-grandchildren Andy and Shannon Frazier, great grandchildren Davian and Nolan Allison, her sister Gloria Brown and brother Ronald Clark.
Joanna will be remembered for her youthful energy, joy of life, sense of humor and unwavering love of her family. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 from 1-4 pm, at the Bowie Elks Lodge, at 1506 Defense Highway, Crofton, MD. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Parkinson's foundation.

Albert Leitch Passes Away
Albert Leitch, 81 of Davidsonville, MD, passed away May 31, 2017 at AAMC.
He was born on January 29, 1936 and raised on the family farm in Davidsonville.
Albert was preceded in death by his parent, Earl and Jessie Leith. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Davidson of Davidsonville and Kim Pulliam of Annapolis; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Jane Price Skipper of Kilmarnock, VA; Betty L. Moreland of Galeville and Barbara Whittington of Davidsonville.
A celebration of Albert's life will be held at a later date.

Sharon Baxter Obituary
Sharon Offut Baxter, 75, of Davidsonville MD and Englewood FL, formerly of Kettering, MD, died on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from complications related to ovarian cancer.
Predeceased by her parents, Marvin Earl Offutt Sr. and Flora Evelyn Walker, and her brothers, Marvin Offutt Jr. and Warren Offutt. Sharon is survived by her eighth-grade sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Thomas F. Baxter Jr, their three children, Lisa Baxter Storm, Thomas F. Baxter III, and Shelby Baxter Leilich, their spouses; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Those who wish to celebrate the life of this loving and dynamic woman are welcomed to her Christian memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, held at Crofton United Methodist Church at 1690 Riedel Rd, Crofton, MD 21114. Betty Knupp Receives Award

Davidsonville resident Betty Knupp recently received the
Excellence in Public Service Award from the Alumni Association of Goucher
College. This annual award is given to alumni who demonstrate outstanding
commitment and leadership in public service.
Knupp, Class
of 1967, has volunteered with art education at elementary schools and
retirement communities, and taught classes for senior adults at Anne Arundel
Community College through its continuing education program. The college gave
her another class and another, and pretty soon she was teaching seven classes a
week, a career that spanned 25 years.
An avid gardener, Knupp
volunteers in the gardens of her church, a children's museum and a senior
center. She's also worked with the Anne Arundel Literacy Council and co-founded
the South County Concert Association, bringing music to the Annapolis area. She
has served on its board for 42 years.

Men From Dvidsonville & Annapolis Face Charges
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Men from Annapolis and Davidsonville face car theft charges after they were reportedly stopped by Annapolis Police Thursday driving a stolen SUV on West Street near Westgate Circle. Police say the vehicle was stolen after it was left unlocked with the keys inside.
An Annapolis Police Department detective saw the 2011 Kia Sorento that had been stolen Monday from the 1100 block of Short Street. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 1000 block of West Street. After a brief foot chase, the driver of the stolen SUV was identified as Daven Lewis, 26, of Annapolis. Lewis was arrested and charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unauthorized removal of property as well as traffic charges related to driving while suspended.
The passenger in the vehicle, Jason Edmonds, 28, of Davidsonville, was also arrested and charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unauthorized removal of property.
