Melva Heer Passes Away
Melva Hukill Heer, of Gambrills, MD, passed away on November 4th, 2016.
She was born in Louisville, KY in 1923. Melva earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Louisville and went on to become a teacher in English for elementary students; Home Economics and Physical Education for Regina High School with the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. She was the Vice President of Alumni of Zeta Tau Alpha in the NE area; AAUW Book Chairman; American Cancer Society Daffodil Chair & Volunteer; Partners in Care Volunteer, and President of the Evergreen Social Club. Melva enjoyed gardening, travel, tennis, family, homemaking, sewing, and knitting.
Melva was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Raymond R. Heer, Jr., and her sister, Joyce H. Wellman She is survived by her three children Raymond R. Heer, III, of Gambrills, MD, Christopher L. Heer, of Columbia, MD and Elise H. Lynch, of Turner, OR. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am immediately following the visitation. Interment will be held privately at the Maryland Veteran Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
