The Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County was
recently recognized by the Gov. Larry Hogan's office for the club's
continued involvement in community service projects. Among the numerous service activities
undertaken by the club is the Bountiful Backpack Program, which served as the
basis for state recognition. Each week, during the school year, the club
provides non-perishable weekend food supplies to 138 local students, in the
free and reduced meal program at school. Club members and community volunteers
are actively involved in the shopping, packing and distribution of the
supplies. Sorting and packing takes place on Thursday
morning at 9 a.m., at the Carrie Weedon Center in Galesville. Community
volunteers interested in assisting are always welcomed.
The club meets every Tue. morning for breakfast at the Kilkarney House in Davidsonville.
