Gordon Thomasch Passes Away

    Gordon John Thomasch, a 12-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Rockville for 38 years, died at his home on February 24. He was 98.
    Born August 12, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Ellen Cronin and Paul Thomasch, he received his Bachelor's of Arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1937. He attended post-graduate courses at Le Moyne College and Russell Sage College, and ultimately received his diploma in American Law and Procedure from the LaSalle Extension University in 1977.
    Gordon worked in the consumer finance and banking industries for 50 years, retiring as Senior Vice President of Government Relations for Bank of America. He was a foundation trustee and former chairman of the National Foundation forConsumer Credit, and former president of the Maryland Consumer Finance Association. Mr. Thomasch received the Distinguished Service Award of the American Financial Services Association, the Maryland Consumer Finance Association, and the Virginia Consumer Finance Association. Mr. Thomasch was a lay lector at St. Raphael Church in Rockville, and enjoyed golf, bible study, traveling and watching sports.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Norman Thomasch. Gordon is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret, who was the love of his life. He is also survived by three sons and their wives and companions: Roger Thomasch and Janie Harrington, Daniel and Jeannine Thomasch, and James and Christine Thomasch; two daughters, Eileen Stisitis of Annapolis and Mary Thomasch of Point of Rocks; 11 grandchildren: Paul, Brian, Scott, Stephen, Emma, Jennifer, Michelle and Meghan Thomasch, Laura Uzzle, Tamara Barber and Kimberly Metzger; and six great-grandchildren. He was adored by all and will be remembered always.
    Friends are invited to Gordon's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Monday, March 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, on Tuesday, March 4 at 12pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Annapolis. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities USA, P.O. Box 17066, Baltimore, MD 21297.
